What is the Cedar Residents' Association?

CRA is a student-led leadership group for residents of Cedar Apartments.

CRA is for residents who want to develop new skills, meet new people, advocate for their community, make Cedar Apartments feel more like home, and demonstrate leadership skills that can be applied to other jobs, internships, and positions.

Why join the Cedar Residents' Association?

Vacant Positions

Everyone is welcome in CRA!

No application is required to be involved and develop leadership skills. However, CRA has a few specialized leadership roles available if you're interested in developing a specific skill.

Associated Students of the University of Washington (ASUW) Senator

Represents Cedar Hall at weekly ASUW meetings. ASUW is a student government which passes legislation that affects the entire University of Washington.

  • Attends weekly hall caucus meeting led by RCSA Director of External Affairs

  • Attends weekly ASUW Senate meeting (Tuesdays at 5:00pm)

  • Attends weekly general council meetings

  • Provides regular updates in CRA about ASUW and campus initiatives

  • Engages in discussion with CRA members to gather student opinion

  • Attends quarterly meeting with CRA Advisor

  • Attends monthly meetings with AD for Representation

Students Expressing Environmental Dedication (SEED) Representative

Attends weekly SEED meetings and advocates for sustainability within the residential communities. SEED is responsible for efforts including the reusable containers program and the compost bins program.

  • Attends weekly SEED general council meetings (Thursdays at 5:30pm)

  • Provides regular updates in CRA about SEED

  • Facilitates hall council vote for any necessary SEED legislation/initiative

  • Attends quarterly meeting with CRA Advisor

  • Attends monthly meetings with AD for Representation

  • Attends weekly CRA meetings

Assistant Director for Communications & Marketing

Disseminates information to Cedar residents about events through email, flyers, and social media.

  • Serves as point of contact for marketing for community council sponsored programming efforts

  • Works in collaboration with AD for Programming for marketing

  • Manages CRA social media sites (if applicable) & collaborates with adviser to provide content for community Facebook page

  • Records minutes from general council meetings and executive board meetings weekly

  • Distributes weekly general council minutes to all community council members

  • Works in collaboration with Assistant Director for Recruitment & Retention to disseminate information out to residents about community council regularly (social media, flyers, posters, emails, etc.)

  • Attends bi-weekly meetings with CRA Advisor

  • Attends monthly meetings with CRA Director

  • Attends weekly CRA meetings

  • Attends weekly executive board meetings

Assistant Director for Representation

Coordinates representation efforts in the Cedar community.

  • Responsible, in concert with the CRA Advisor, for the oversight of RCSA, ASUW, BAC, and SEED representatives.

  • Checks in regularly with representatives.

  • Follows-up with representatives who miss weekly meetings to encourage consistent participation.

  • Attends weekly RCSA general council meetings (Wednesdays at 4:30pm).

  • Facilitates CRA vote for any necessary RCSA legislation/initiative.

  • Attends bi-weekly meetings with the CRA Advisor.

  • Attends monthly meetings with the CRA Director.

  • Organizes informal monthly check-ins with their RA to support leadership development.

  • Attends weekly CRA meetings.

Floor Representative / General Member

All Cedar residents are invited to be floor representatives! Floor representatives are vital to CRA. Floor representatives advocate for their floor's needs and interests at CRA meetings, develop leadership skills, and organize building initiatives. Floor representatives can expect to spend approximately 1-2 hours per week on Hall Council.

  • Voting privileges on community and campus initiatives

  • Attend weekly CRA meetings

  • Opportunity to be involved in a variety of committees

  • Provides updates in CRA regarding activities on floor
